About Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Calculator

What does Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Calculator do?

Calculate Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) maturity value, yearly interest and total returns instantly. Supports 21-year scheme, 15-year deposit.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Calculator

Plan your SSY deposits before you open an account

Use this Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana calculator to estimate how much your deposits could grow over 21 years. Enter a yearly amount, an interest rate, your daughter’s age and the account opening year. You can then compare the money you put in with the estimated interest and final balance.

The calculation assumes the same yearly deposit for the first 15 years and no new deposits during the next six years. It also keeps your selected interest rate unchanged for the whole period. Real account returns will depend on the rates announced by the government and when your deposits reach the account.

Current rate: India Post lists the Sukanya Samriddhi Account interest rate as 8.2% a year, checked on 2 November 2026. This is not a rate locked in for 21 years. Check the official rate again when you make your plan. Check India Post’s savings rates.

How to use the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana calculator

  1. Choose your yearly investment. If your budget is ₹1,000 a month, use ₹12,000 as the yearly amount. The timing difference is explained below.
  2. Check the interest rate. Use the current notified rate for a starting estimate, then try another rate to see how the result changes.
  3. Set your daughter’s age. A new SSY account must be opened before her 10th birthday. Moving a calculator slider to age 10 does not make a child eligible.
  4. Enter the opening year. If the account is being opened in 2026, select 2026 rather than leaving an older default year.
  5. Read the breakdown. Compare total deposits, estimated interest and the maturity amount. Use the chart to see the split. The current tool also has Print and Share controls.

This version starts a fresh 21-year projection. If you already have an SSY account, it does not read your passbook or include its past balance and rate history. An older start year alone will not turn it into an exact existing-account calculation.

What the calculator results mean

  • Total invested: your yearly amount multiplied by 15.
  • Interest earned: the estimated maturity amount minus those deposits.
  • Maturity amount: the projected account balance after 21 years.
  • Maturity year: the opening year plus 21. The actual maturity date depends on the full account opening date.

For example, an account opened when your daughter is five normally matures around age 26. SSY does not automatically mature when she turns 21. The account’s 21-year period starts on its opening date.

₹1,000 a month in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: what could it become?

₹1,000 each month adds up to ₹12,000 a year. Over 15 years, you would deposit ₹1,80,000.

In a separate monthly-deposit example, that could grow to about ₹5.55 lakh after 21 years. This example assumes an April opening, deposits credited by the fifth of each month for 15 years, a constant 8.2% rate, yearly interest credit and rounding, and no withdrawals.

The current calculator uses a different timing assumption: it puts the full yearly amount in before adding that year’s interest. Entering ₹12,000 therefore gives an estimate of about ₹5.75 lakh. That is an early yearly-deposit estimate, not the same as paying ₹1,000 each month. Neither figure is a promised payout.

Monthly budget to yearly investment table

Use this table to choose the yearly input for the current tool. The last column follows its simplified yearly-deposit method at a fixed 8.2% for 21 years, with 15 deposits.

Monthly budget Yearly calculator input Total paid over 15 years Estimated maturity with early yearly deposits
₹500 ₹6,000 ₹90,000 ₹2,87,285
₹1,000 ₹12,000 ₹1,80,000 ₹5,74,570
₹2,000 ₹24,000 ₹3,60,000 ₹11,49,139
₹5,000 ₹60,000 ₹9,00,000 ₹28,72,848
₹12,500 ₹1,50,000 ₹22,50,000 ₹71,82,119

These figures are rounded estimates. The last row reaches the ₹1.5 lakh yearly scheme limit. A ₹12,500 monthly payment plan has different deposit timing and will not produce the same result as ₹1.5 lakh deposited early each year.

How the interest estimate works

For each of the first 15 years, the calculator adds your yearly deposit and then applies the selected yearly interest rate. For the last six years, it adds interest without another deposit.

In simple terms: new balance = (previous balance + that year’s deposit) × (1 + interest rate ÷ 100). During years 16 to 21, the deposit in this formula is zero.

A real SSY account works on monthly eligible balances. Under the scheme rules, interest uses the lowest balance between the close of the fifth day and the end of each month, and is credited at the end of the financial year. A payment credited after the fifth generally starts helping with interest from the following month. This is one reason a bank or post office statement can differ from a simple yearly calculator.

Use a lower rate to check your plan

Try the same ₹12,000 yearly input at different rates. Under this calculator’s early yearly-deposit method, a constant 7% gives about ₹4,84,221, 8.2% gives about ₹5,74,570, and 9% gives about ₹6,44,075.

Those are what-if examples, not forecasts of future government rates. If your savings goal only works at the highest assumed rate, consider whether you can increase the deposit or keep a separate savings plan.

Education withdrawal and tax saving need a separate check

The current page displays education withdrawal and yearly tax-saving figures. Do not treat either as an approved amount.

For education, the rule allows up to 50% of the balance at the end of the financial year before the withdrawal application year, subject to age or Class 10 eligibility, proof of education costs and other conditions. The amount shown at age 18 in this tool does not check all those rules.

The tax figure also uses a fixed assumption. Your actual saving depends on your tax regime, tax rate and unused deduction limit. Under the new tax regime, the eligible-deposit deduction is not available. A tax-saving number shown by a calculator is not money credited to the SSY account.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an official post office SSY calculator?

No. MagicalToolz provides an independent estimate. It does not open an account, accept deposits or connect to your bank or post office.

Does the maturity amount include my deposits?

Yes. It includes the money deposited plus estimated interest. The interest figure is the difference between maturity value and total deposits.

Do I pay for 15 years or 21 years?

The deposit period is 15 years from account opening. Normal maturity is after 21 years. The remaining balance can earn the applicable interest during the years without fresh deposits.

Can I enter ₹1,000 as the investment?

The input is yearly. Enter ₹12,000 if you mean a ₹1,000 monthly budget. Read the deposit-timing note before comparing the result with a monthly-deposit example.

Does the child’s age change the final amount?

With the same deposit and rate, this version uses the same 21-year growth period. Age changes the displayed maturity age and education estimate. It does not shorten the scheme to the child’s 21st birthday.

Is the 8.2% interest rate guaranteed until maturity?

No. It is the rate currently listed by India Post. Future rates can change, so a projection that uses 8.2% throughout is an assumption.

Why does another SSY calculator show a different amount?

Check whether it assumes monthly or yearly deposits, early or late payments, yearly rounding, withdrawals and changing rates. Comparing different assumptions will give different answers even for the same yearly total.

Can this tool calculate missed payments or an existing account exactly?

No. This version does not accept a dated transaction history, current passbook balance, default fees or past quarterly rates. Use your account statement for those details.

This calculator is for planning. Confirm account rules, interest rates and withdrawal or tax eligibility with the relevant official source before acting.
