• Words highlight individually? Your PDF has real text inside. This tool will work well.
• Whole page selects as one block, or nothing selects? Your PDF is a scanned image. The letters are just pixels. This tool has no OCR, so it can't read them. You'll get an empty or near-empty document.

Good to know

Scanned PDF? Run it through an OCR tool first (Google Drive does this for free: upload the PDF, right-click, Open with Google Docs). Once it has a text layer, bring it back here. Check OCR results carefully, especially names, dates, and amounts, since blurry scans and stamps confuse OCR.

Some PDFs are mixed: typed pages plus a scanned signature page or a photographed receipt in the appendix. The typed pages convert fine, the scanned ones come out blank. That's expected, not a bug.

How to Convert PDF to Word

• Select your PDF. Drag it into the box or click to browse. One file at a time. There's no fixed file size cap built into the tool, but a very large PDF takes longer and depends on your device's memory.
• Wait a moment. The tool reads every page and pulls out the text. A 20-page report takes a few seconds.
• Download the .doc file.

What You Get Back

An editable Word document with your text rebuilt into proper paragraphs, with a page break wherever the PDF had one. You can click into any paragraph and start editing.

It's a .doc built for compatibility. The tool actually generates an HTML document and saves it with a .doc extension, which Word, Google Docs, and WPS all recognize and open. If Word shows a "file format doesn't match extension" notice, click Yes, it opens fine. Want a modern .docx? Open it in Word and do File, Save As, .docx. Takes five seconds.

Tables come out as text, not tables. The words and numbers from a table are all there, but the grid isn't. A 4-column table becomes lines of text. For a simple contact list, no big deal. For a bank statement or balance sheet, you'll need to rebuild the table in Word using the extracted text. Still faster than typing it all.

Watch for this

In a table, position carries meaning. The same "5,000" means something different in the Debit column vs the Credit column. After converting a financial table, check every row against the PDF before you trust it.

What Converts Cleanly, and What Needs a Bit of Cleanup

Converts well: reports, letters, essays, and agreements exported from Word or Google Docs; single-column text documents; anything where the words matter more than the design.

Needs some manual fixing:

• Two-column layouts (research papers, newsletters). The right column's text may land before the left column finishes. Cut and paste to reorder.
• Headers and footers. A company name or "Confidential" that repeats on every page may show up between paragraphs. Use Find to spot repeats and delete extras. Keep the ones that actually matter.
• Page numbers may appear on their own lines. Delete them and add real page numbers in Word.
• Bullets and numbered lists. Bullets sometimes separate from their text, or auto-numbering becomes typed numbers. Reapply list formatting in Word if you plan to add or remove items.
• Paragraph breaks. A PDF doesn't always know where a paragraph ends vs where a line just hit the margin. You may see one paragraph split in two, or a heading glued to the text below it.
• Fonts. If the PDF used a font you don't have, Word substitutes one. Text is correct, but line lengths and page breaks shift a little.

Won't work: scanned or photographed pages (no OCR, see above), and heavily designed brochures with text scattered in boxes. Technically it converts, but rearranging may take longer than rebuilding.

Example

You drafted a rental agreement in Word two years ago, exported it as PDF, and the .docx is nowhere to be found. New tenant, three clauses need changing. Convert the PDF here, open in Word, fix the three clauses, check the clause numbers are still in sequence, save as .docx. Fifteen minutes instead of retyping six pages.

Review Order That Saves Time

Open the .doc and the PDF side by side. Check in this order, most important first:

• Missing pages or blank sections (scanned pages inside a text PDF)
• Reading order on any multi-column pages
• Tables, names, numbers, dates, clause numbers
• Paragraph breaks and lists
• Fonts and spacing, last, and only if the look matters

Meaning first, appearance last. A wrong font is annoying. A value under the wrong column heading can cost real money. Save your corrected version as a new file, and keep the raw converted one until you're done comparing.

Common Problems and What They Mean

• Document is empty or nearly empty: scanned PDF with no text layer. Needs OCR first.
• Some pages blank, others fine: mixed PDF. The blank ones were images.
• Text in the wrong order: multi-column source. Reorder manually.
• Table looks like a jumble: expected. Rebuild the grid using the extracted text.
• Fonts look different: original font not on your device. Pick a similar one in Word.
• Same line repeats every page: header or footer extracted as body text. Find and delete.
• Word warns about file format: normal for this .doc type. Click Yes, then Save As .docx.

Re-running the same file won't change the result. Figure out which of the above it is and fix that.

Privacy

The PDF is read and converted entirely inside your browser. No upload, no server, no copy stored anywhere. Once the page has loaded, you can even go offline and it still works. Where you save the downloaded Word file, and who you send it to afterwards, is up to you.

Limits

• Formats: PDF in, an HTML-based Word-compatible .doc file out.
• Size: no fixed cap built into the tool. Very large or image-heavy PDFs simply take longer, and depend on your device's memory.
• Batch: one file at a time.
• Password-protected PDFs: won't convert cleanly. There's no dedicated password message, just a generic "Conversion failed" error. Remove the password in the software that created the PDF, then convert.
• No OCR. Scanned PDFs need a separate OCR step before this tool can help.
